Crutes Signs another New Player for Powerleague
Crutes Law Firm has been instrumental in the completion of another acquisition for national five-a-side soccer operator Powerleague.
Powerleague Fives Ltd has acquired an existing site on Preston Farm Business Park in a bid to further grow and expand its business in the region.
The deal sees Powerleague acquire a further 10 pitches in the Teesside area, meaning the company now operates 466 pitches across the UK in 44 different locations.
Crutes’ Teesside-based partner, Gareth Jones, was instrumental in the deal. Anne McCulloch, a partner in the company commercial department, handled the corporate aspects, whilst partner Ranj Matharu dealt with the site’s licensing issues. Gareth commented: “We are delighted to be working with Powerleague on acquisitions and other aspects of their business at an exciting time in the company’s growth and development.”
Powerleague chief executive, Sean Tracey, said: “The North East is an important area for us in terms of our expansion plans. As a business we are very focused on both the corporate and individual markets, and the location of our North East sites will be ideal to capitalise on an increasing demand from both individuals and for corporate packages from local businesses.
“We enjoy an excellent working relationship with the team at Crutes, and look forward to working with them further as the business grows and develops”.
This latest deal comes on the back of Powerleague’s recent acquisition of JJB Sports’ Football Division, which Crutes advised the company on earlier this year.
Powerleague acquired 69 new pitches from JJB - and the company also became Powerleague’s official sports retailer, selling JJB stock and goods at all of Powerleague’s centres across the UK.
Crutes Law Firm employs 108 staff including 20 partners. The firm has a national reputation for the quality of its work and is one of the largest law firms in the region with offices in Newcastle and Carlisle in addition to Teesside.
