Crutes Hire Corporate Specialist From International Practice
A talented lawyer has joined one of the region’s up-and-coming corporate practices to bring further experience to an expanding team.
Anne McCulloch, 33 and from Durham, joins Crutes’ growing corporate division as a partner. She has over 10 years experience in corporate and commercial law, which was gained while working for international law firm Eversheds.
She has specialised in corporate transactional work, and has a great deal of experience working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses in a broad range of different industries.
Anne will join the existing Crutes corporate team, which includes another recent recruit, Tom Bowes, and experienced partner Paul Bell.
This dedicated team has plans to expand Crutes’ corporate and commercial services – offering local companies a viable alternative to the larger, traditional corporate law firms in the region.
Crutes is currently one of the top five law firms in the North East, with offices in Newcastle, Teesside and Carlisle. Over the next three years Crutes aims to close the gap on the top three law firms in the region by expanding its services in areas such as corporate and commercial law.
Anne commented on her appointment: “I saw this job as a great opportunity to join an emerging corporate team and continue to develop it in this marketplace.
“Most of the larger law firms in the region have long-established corporate teams, but Crutes is actively growing this area of work and this offered me a unique opportunity to join a team that is key to the future direction of the practice. This is an exciting prospect and something I am very much looking forward to.”
Crutes managing partner, Helen Ager, said: “Crutes already has an excellent team of lawyers in its Business Services team. We now hope to build on these strengths and expand our business in key areas - such as corporate and commercial law. The potential is there in this marketplace - particularly for a firm that can offer good value, high quality pragmatic legal advice to SMEs and owner managed businesses.
“With Anne in place we look forward to getting out there and meeting the competition head-on. We are confident we offer something different from the more traditional corporate practices in the region, and we look forward to what is sure to be an exciting time in our growth and development.”
