The claim followed a flood which caused damage to the Claimant’s factory in July 1998. The Claimant had engaged D1 to install air conditioning
to their factory during the summer shutdown period. D1 then subcontracted
the ducting work to D2. They in turn contracted with D3 to provide fitters
and fitter’s mates on a labour only contract."

Leading law firm Crutes is expanding rapidly with 20pc growth
projected this year, and new staff set to join. The Newcastle firm recruited
51 staff across its three offices last year - taking numbers up 36pc
to 192 in just 12 months and plans to hire up to 30 this year if it hits
its growth targets.

to handle the growing demand from local authorities and licensees throughout
the North for expert advice on the imminent Licensing Bill. The new Licensing
Unit will be led by Ranj Matharu, who has just been appointed as a Partner
with the firm. She will lead a team of seven people based at Crutes’
offices in Newcastle and Middlesbrough.
