Crutes Appointed to Specialist Panel

Rod Searl

Crutes Law Firm has been appointed to the prestigious Treasury Solicitors Panel (TSOL) to advise Central Government on complex criminal litigation and regulatory matters.

This is the first time Crutes has been appointed in this field of work, and members of the firm’s renowned Health and Safety and Public Sector teams will be working alongside TSOL, and representing Government on a range of complex and often high-profile cases.

Crutes’ Head of Public Sector and Insurance Litigation Department, Rod Searl, commented on the appointment: “This is a prestigious appointment for us - and we are all delighted we were successful with our tender.

“In these challenging economic times our experience and track-record in Public Sector legal work will become an increasingly important element of our business, and we are delighted to receive such a significant boost at this time.

“Crutes has always had an excellent relationship with the public sector and acts for Central Government, a number of local authorities, as well as the Fire Service and the Police. We have an excellent team here, who have a huge amount of specialist experience, which puts us in a unique position when it comes to advising the public sector on legal matters.”

Crutes expects the instructions the firm receives from TSOL to fall under two main categories – the defence of health and safety prosecutions, and some Care Standard Tribunal work.

The latter involves working for the Government’s Care Standards Council, dealing with appeals brought by people debarred from working with vulnerable adults.

Crutes’ contract with TSOL commenced in January this year and will run for a period of three years - with the possibility of a further one year extension if all parties agree.
