Crutes' Office Manager
wins prestigious 'Mentor of the Year Award'
Lyn Rowe, Office and Administration Manager at Crutes Law Firm in Newcastle,
has been awarded the title of ‘Workplace Supervisor/Mentor of the year
2004/05’.
The regional award, which was given by leading North East training provider Access
Training Ltd, was in recognition for her support and commitment to
the training and development of young people.
Lyn has spent the last 10 years working with school children
in work placements and apprenticeships to help them gain an insight
to the ‘working environment’. She has also helped develop the careers
for many of Crutes’ staff.
Lyn joined Crutes in 1975 and worked her way up from office
junior to her current position as Office Manager. She manages Crutes’
administration department and her responsibilities include facilities
management, ISO accreditation and health and safety issues as well
as managing the support staff.
Tim Wallis, Chairman of Crutes, said: “Lyn really deserves
this award, and I would like to congratulate her on winning it. As
a firm, we believe it is important to encourage all our members of
staff to develop their own skills, and we feel that by working with
young people we are able to help prepare the workforce of the future.”
Julie Reay, Training Manager with Access Training, said:
“I am delighted to present Lyn with this award. Her commitment to training
is second to none and the feedback we have received from her colleagues
and young people who have been to Crutes as part of their training
has been excellent. We are committed to providing high-quality training
opportunities to young people throughout the region, but we can only
do this with the support of people like Lyn and employers like Crutes,
so their input really is vital. “
